Examinations
The examinations consist of Theoretical Examination papers and Practical Tasks in English. Questions will translated into Russian and the native language of each participating team by the respective countries' Jury delegates.
Practical Tasks
The practical tasks will consist of tests in the following topics:
- Cell and Molecular Biology
- Microbiology and Biochemistry
- Plant Diversity, Anatomy and Physiology
- Animal Anatomy and Ecology
Theoretical Exams
The Theoretical Exams will take the form of general written examination papers.
Questions will be given in various styles such as multiple choice, true or false, and questions that ask for answers in numbers or symbols. Questions are constructed so as to avoid language or cultural bias, and hence facilitate translation.
Results
The Practical and Theoretical components each contribute 50% towards the final results. As a general guide, Gold medals will be awarded to participants with scores ranked in the top 10% of participants. Silver medals will be awarded to the next 20% of participants, and bronze medals to the next 30% of participants.
